Sharp Island is one of the most favoured scenic spots in Sai Kung.  Since the admission to the Hong Kong Global Geopark of China network in 2011, the usage rate of Sharp Island pier has been doubled.  The limited capacity of the pier is inadequate to meet the current needs.  In light of this, Sai Kung District Council proposed to reconstruct the pier through the Signature Project Scheme, the work could increase water depth of the pier and improve the berthing facilities, in reponse to the needs of the district.
